Rachel Cook
Hi, I'm Rachel Cook. Welcome to my profile!
Rachel Cook began her career in training admin roles before joining the world of in-house recruitment in 2008 for The Co-operative Food (Supply Chain); a huge corporate organisation with a unique set of values and beliefs. She grew the recruitment function from piles of paper applications and excel spreadsheets through to a modern, fair and thorough resourcing process, with an exceptional candidate experience. Rachel left The Co-operative during a period of extensive change, after 6 years, and joined niche software-as-a-service provider: SaleCycle. The role was brand new and hers to shape to the needs of the business; she introduced a full recruitment process and now leads a small team of international Internal Recruiters, whilst maintaining responsibility for roles within core headquarters and our Asia Pacific region. Away from resourcing, Rachel is also responsible for employer branding, company culture / employee engagement and a small number of HR activities. Rachel left education after gaining strong grades throughout school/college but continues to improve herself with a variety of formal qualifications as well as in-house training & networking events - she love to broaden my knowledge!
Rachel Cook's Background
Rachel Cook's Experience
Senior Recruiter at SaleCycle
January 2014 - Present
My role at SaleCycle has developed into a senior position, where I lead 2 Internal Recruiters (for the EMEA and Americas regions) and develop the central recruitment strategy. 2014-15 will see us recruit over 100 new heads intentionally, including 5 new territories, for which I'm ultimately responsible for.
My day-to-day activity includes the recruitment of roles in north east England and throughout Asia Pacific, across Technology, Finance, Sales, Implementation and Client Services functions. I have also begun establishing relationships with local colleges and universities to support and grow our regional talent.
Employer branding and candidate experience are both high priorities for me, as is employee culture, and I maintain a strong, up-to-date knowledge base on developments across the recruitment industry to ensure I recruit within modern best practice.
Internal Recruiter at SaleCycle
April 2012 - January 2014
SaleCycle are market leaders in online cart abandonment recovery - we enable businesses to track and recover abandoned shopping baskets by automatically retargeting customers who drop out part way through the checkout process.
I am responsible for developing attraction methods, directly sourcing applicants (LinkedIn, job boards, social media), establishing resourcing processes and creating selection tools. I fulfill the recruitment needs across Sales, Client Services (account/campaign management), Technology, Design and Marketing for offices based in North East England, London, Washington DC (USA) and Singapore, without the use of agencies. This means that I do not engage with any agencies for my vacancies. As much as I appreciate your interest, any unsolicited activity from recruitment agencies will reflect unfavourably on your business. Thank you.
We welcome anyone interested in our product or our vacancies to get in touch, for a confidential, informal discussion.
Current vacancies:
Resourcer (Supply Chain) at The Co-operative Group
May 2008 - April 2012
The Co-operative: Food is the leading community food retailer, with a store in every postal code. The role of the Supply Chain function is to ensure that the right products are in the right place at the right time. With over 2,800 stores and approximately 15,000 product lines, this is very big operation which has been transformed and modernised during a redevelopment program spanning over 5 years.
I was responsible for the end to end recruitment process within the national network, for positions ranging from senior management to warehouse colleagues, guiding both hiring managers and applicants from vacancy requirement through to offer and induction. This required a variety of tailored attraction and direct sourcing strategies depending on requirements and regional differences.
I initially established and embedded fair and consistent processes, whilst building credible, lasting relations with stakeholders. Throughout my role, I continued to develop a series of robust screening and assessment tools to ensure the right person was appointed in the right place at the right time and was heavily involved in multiple site start ups throughout the redevelopment program, recruiting up to c.1000 employees per site.
